One of the many side opportunities in the game holds some valuable ore. This guide on How To Break Open The Hardened Ore Patch In Everspace 2 will guide you through the process of destroying the large asteroid, freeing up the huge laser, and using a neat piece of equipment to deflect the laser to your ideal target.

There are two important stages here. There’s a huge asteroid that acts as the centerpiece for the stage. Inside is a lot of ore and a Reflecting Panel. Before heading into the huge asteroid, look around the outside of the area. There are some giant laser beams going into smaller, but still very large asteroids. One such asteroid has explosive canisters on it, you know it’s the correct one as it’s displayed on your HUD as “Rigged Asteroid”. There are 5 explosive canisters on the asteroid. You need to get close enough to activate each one. Once you activate the first, you have a few seconds to activate the next before it fails. Once you’ve blown the asteroid, head inside the massive one.

Simply position yourself midway down the laser and use the Reflecting Panel to target The Hardened Ore Patch. This will break up the ore so you can collect it, and complete this location.
